The Thirteenth – by G. L. Twynham – a Book Review X 2!

I recently became acquainted with a new book series – The Thirteenth – by G. L. Twynham.  There are three books currently in the series, with a fourth book due out some time in the spring of 2013.  I have read the first two and am nearly done with the third, but this review will be for her first in the series, also titled The Thirteenth.

The Thirteenth by G.L. Twynham

I loved this book. It was engrossing and fun and visually stimulating.

You can easily identify with the characters. I instantly could imagine Val and her family, Shane, the whole lot, and I quickly found myself hating Delta. Ugh! She reminds me of someone I grew up with, which just makes it worse! She’s the character you’ll love to hate, or maybe not. Whatever floats your boat.

I found myself casting the book as I went! Personally, I see a quirky Alan Tudyk as Zac. I can’t imagine anyone but my daughter as Val, because they sound so much alike, right down to their style sense.

It’s a short read and I easily finished it in one day, but I love that. I just couldn’t put it down. It’s definitely in my pile of favorites, as it is one of those books that you’ll want to pick up again and re-read as each part of the series comes out or just for fun.

I’ve finished the second book and am nearly done with the third. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the fourth in the series!

Review for G.L. Twynham’s Book: The Thirteenth

I thought that the book was very different from other books I have read. I couldn’t put the book down. When I wasn’t reading The Thirteenth, I would keep thinking ,“What’s going to happen next?”

There were things in the book I never would have expected. The Thirteenth has a lot of action and a little bit of trust issues between the characters. In the beginning, Val was worried about who to tell about these strange changes happening to her. She was worried that people would think she was crazy. Also, she had to realize who her allies and enemies were.

I was surprised a lot while reading The Thirteenth, and I wanted to keep reading. I felt this was an awesome book and you should definitely read it! – Lauren Swank (age 13)
