NewAir Water Dispenser Review

NewAir contacted me recently about reviewing one of their products. I had the choice of their ice makers or water dispensers. I chose the NewAir WCD-200W Water Dispenser, drawn to the fact that it has a hot water function and knowing it would be great this winter for quick cocoa and easy cup-a-soups for the kids.

Shipping: They shipped my dispenser out quickly. It arrived before we had even returned from vacation, so I was very impressed with speed of shipment. It was packed well and securely.

Size: I was worried that it would be quite heavy and I wouldn’t be able to lift it, but it’s surprisingly light for its size. It is also much smaller than I thought it would be. It’s the perfect size really for our kitchen. I was worried about how much space it would take and where we would put it, but it takes very little space at all and fits in perfectly in a corner by our cabinets.

Functionality/Features: It’s extremely easy to set up and fits a standard water jug. There are two dispensers, one for cold and one for hot. I appreciate that they have an extra mechanism on the hot water feature that aids in preventing accidental pouring of hot water and potential for burns.  If you’ll take a look at the picture above, you have to clamp both toggles to be able to dispense hot water.  With small children in our home, this is a great feature!  There is also storage hidden in the bottom below the drip tray, which is convenient for storing cups.

Quality: The parts are all well made and the construction is solid. The motor is very quiet. It’s a compact dispenser and easy to place the water jug. There is no leaking or dripping after dispensing water.

My son’s reaction this morning when he saw that we had set up the water dispenser. “I love the water [dispenser]. It’s the best thing ever.” It really came at the perfect time, as the water dispenser on our refrigerator went out, but even if that was working it is more convenient and the water tastes better. Again, I love that there is a hot water feature, which comes out at just the right temperature for that perfect cup of tea or cocoa.  On the cold side, the water comes out cold and is very refreshing.

Overall, I am very pleased with this product and I would highly recommend it for purchase for a home or office. It provides cold and ready water, as well as hot, and this is very convenient in a busy home or office.

  48. Elizabeth Matthiesen says:

I’m not a water drinker, I’m a coffee girl :-). I believe this would be ideal for a workplace but it’s probably only useful in a larger household in the private sphere. I wonder what the energy costs are for running this 24/7?

    • It is energy star certified. It doesn’t run all the time, so it’s pretty efficient. I think it’s perfect for a home. We have a family of 6 and we go through 2-3 jugs a week.

  49. Dana Mislin- Langa says:

I had a similar machine at one time, but found that I have a tough time keeping it clean. I followed the cleaning instructions, but noticed that mold was still growing around the nozzles. The review didn’t mention anything about cleaning the machine, so I am just curious what they recommend to keep it clean.

  50. Dorothy Teel says:

I love the safety feature built into this cooler hot water dispenser and it should help prevent children from getting burned, I think that it Is streamlined and compact and would be essential for people who need water brought into their homes, My son and daughter in law would need one of these in California, thank you for sharing this review

  51. Dorothy Boucher says:

i love these, i had one before but when my daughter got pregnant i gave it to her for the baby because she wanted it, and yes i do mis having it here, first thing in the morning or coming home I would put my tea bag in my cup and pour some hot water :) will have to think about getting a new one.. great review and thanks for sharing @tiosnlyme143

  52. I am going to have to check this one out. I have a well, which may sound wonderful, but the water is very hard with the mineral “combination” and even after 33 years I have problems with the taste … when I was on a “diet” (which I need to start again) and making sure I was drinking 8 glasses of water, I had to switch to bottled water …. just for me. This sounds like it would be a great option.

  53. sherry butcher says:

It’s so great they have an extra mechanism on the hot water feature that aids in preventing accidental pouring of hot water and potential for burns esp if you have children around the house.

  54. I enjoyed reading your review on the NewAir Water Cooler/Hot Water Dispenser! I would love to have one of these for my home! Hot water right when I want it! WOW! My husband just said “bet it’s not as hot as you think it to be!”. He’s always a “negative Nancy”! I know I would love to have (especially in the Winter) a quick cup of Cocoa or Tea! I love the fact that it’s “not as heavy as it looks” and it’s terrific! Thanks so much for sharing this review and information with all of us! I honestly do appreciate it!!! Thanks, Michele :)

  55. I need a new water dispenser I guess. My little handles on the water spouts broke. Maybe I can buy them somewhere. I guess I will have to look into it. Anyway, thanks for the review and the reminder. :)

I would love to get one of these for my home. I have been to friends’ houses who had them and really enjoyed the ease of it. Thanks for the review. I will be putting this on my Christmas list!

  73. Robin W says:

We go through a LOT of bottled water at my house. I would hate to tally up the cost, but it’s up there because it’s about all we drink in the summer. I love the idea of having that for when we are at home, but grabbing a bottle when we are running out the door would still be better. I’m also a little concerned about what the cost of replacement water jugs would be and just how that works.

  74. Tamra Phelps says:

I remember wanting one of these in our kitchen as a kid. These are so neat!
